Curves
Gary Heavin and his wife Diane established Curves. In 1992, they launched their first Curves in Harlingen, Texas. This innovative idea of 30-minute fitness, strength training, weight-loss assistance, and a setting tailored to women proved successful right away. With the first location opening in 1999, they started to create plans for franchising the idea. Formerly claiming to be the largest fitness franchise in the world, Curves was named one of the top 10 franchise businesses in the world in 2005. The data sheet for Curves International Inc. states that the company opened 6,000 franchises in just 7 years.
There are 39 nations with Curves facilities, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Facilities for fitness and weight loss at Curves are created with women in mind. Circuit training, which uses hydraulic resistance equipment to produce results, is the program’s main focus. Each class is led by a “Curves Coach,” and the strength training program is mixed with cardiovascular exercise for a total body workout. There are four speciality courses available, and one of the high-intensity programs uses classic boxing techniques. Each specialty class is created for a distinct degree of fitness, ranging from moderate intensity to high intensity. Every speciality class places an emphasis on functional exercises based on strength.
