St. Pius of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio) Parish Mass Schedule

On June 16, 2002, Padre Pio of Pietrelcina was canonized by Pope John Paul II in one of the biggest celebrations of its kind in history. It was Pope John Paul’s pontificate’s 45th canonization event. More than 300,000 people crowded St. Peter’s Square and the surrounding streets despite the oppressive weather. The new saint was praised by the Holy Father for his charity and prayer. The pope remarked, “This is the most tangible summation of Padre Pio’s teaching. He emphasized Padre Pio’s testimony to the influence of suffering as well. The Holy Father emphasized that such suffering might lead to “a privileged road of sanctity” if it is received with love.
