San Vicente Ferrer Parish Mass Schedule

St. Vincent Ferrer, an Aragonese friar and eminent speaker who helped put a stop to the Great Western Schism, was born around 1350 in Valencia, Aragon, and died on April 5, 1419, in Vannes, France. He was canonized in 1455 and his feast day is April 5. He joined the Dominican order at Valencia in 1367 and was appointed a theology professor there. Five years after being appointed confessor and theologian to the antipope Benedict XIII’s court in Avignon in 1394, Vincent resigned to go on missions. He attracted crowds everywhere he went while traveling across Burgundy, southern France, Switzerland, northern Italy, and Spain, and he was notably successful in converting Jews. He was renowned for his austere religious practices, which included continual fasting, and it was thought that he possessed the power to work miracles.
