San Nicolas de Tolentino Cathedral Mass Schedule

The parish in Surigao City, which is dedicated to Nicholas of Tolentino, was established by the Augustinian Recollects in 1754.[3] The heart of the Catholic mission in the region was originally on Siargao island but was moved to Surigao as a result of Moro invasions on the island. Mindanao was divided into six districts, the District of Surigao being one of them, to make administration easier. The aforementioned district stretched from Butuan Bay to Caraga Bay. Its original capital was Tandag, but in 1751 it changed to Surigao. [1][4] The parish of Surigao was governed by secular priests in the first half of the 19th century, while the Augustinians were in charge in the second half of the century.
