Saint Jerome Emiliani and Sta. Susana Parish Mass Schedule

Gerolamo Emiliani, CRS (also spelled Gerolamo Emiliani, Jerome Aemilian, or Hieronymus Emiliani) was an Italian humanitarian who founded the Somaschi Fathers and is revered by the Catholic Church. He lived from 1486 until 8 February 1537. He was born in Venice, served briefly in the military, and then became a magistrate. Emiliani helped the hungry, the sick, and the orphans and inspired others to do the same. In various northern Italian towns, hospitals and orphanages were founded thanks to his good deeds. The patron saint of orphans, he was canonized in 1767.
He established a hospital, three orphanages, and a facility for reformed prostitutes. Jerome and two other priests founded the Clerks Regular of Somasca, a congregation devoted to the upbringing of children and the care of orphans, around the year 1532. After contracting an illness while caring for the sick, Jerome passed away in 1537.
