St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish

On August 21, 1963, His Eminence Rufino J. Cardinal Santos, the Archbishop of Manila, established a new parish in Malabon with Rev. As its parish priest, Pacifico Maria Mendoza. Msgr. Mendoza was given the enormous task of creating a parish from scratch. Masses were celebrated at the Manila Railroad Hospital or on the grounds of many private homes because there wasn’t a lot or even a temporary chapel nearby.

Finally, a 3, 312 square meter site at the intersection of Araneta Avenue and Caimito Road was bought in September 1964, and on November 30th, construction on the parish seat began. In the pew- and door-less church at the time, parishioners were required to bring their own chairs.
