Santo Niño Parish in Tacloban City, Leyte Santo Niño Parish in Tacloban City, Leyte

The Augustinians founded the Santo Niño Parish Church in 1770. The Santo Niño , for which it was named, is credited with bringing an outbreak of cholera to an end in 1889. The outbreak was said to have been put an end by a miracle after the image of the infant Jesus Christ, which had been thought to be lost at sea, arrived in the Port of Tacloban on June 30, 1889.
